Had to do a double-take and make a U-turn fast to catch this: SD70MACs coming through Cajon Pass, pulling intermodals duty, no less! I never knew these locos to do anything but haul coal trains to and from Powder River...
I've noticed a lot of MAC's getting put on "other" duties lately. Maybe their ES44AC's and SD70ACe's are filling out the roster enough that these older units are being put into the mix with the rest.
The 9446 looks like a patch job I would like to do. I see MAC's all the time rolling through Vancouver.
BNSF 9835, this DP snuck up on me as I was walking back to the truck. It was windy and I couldn't hear it idling by.
Here's a MAC in pusher duty on a Denver-Stockton manifest exiting Tunnel 18 on the Moffat: (Mikel Levine photo)
