Tom Phalen owner of made2scalemodels who is famous in the N scale arena has jumped into the Z scale market with is fabulous handmade resin cast vehicles. I’ve witnessed Tom’s work on http://www.nscalelimited.com/ over the past year, the N scalers there love him and his work. I and extremely excited that he has decided to manufacture Z scale vehicles. Tom has been making N scale vehicles for about four years. Tom is a one man shop so please do not bombard him just yet with all your desires. He will be releasing 50’s and 60’s vehicles (you can see his N scale versions on his eBay store http://stores.ebay.com/made2scalemodels?_trksid=p4340.l2563) and maybe eventually 70’s vehicles. He already started selling his Z scale 50’s vehicles there both painted and unfinished. For pricing info contact Tom at: made2scalemodels@hotmail.com Here are some of his current items. Give a warm welcome to our newest Z scale manufacturer, filling a much needed gap in Z scale! Yours, John Bartolotto
I am sooooo happy about this. I know where a piece of my first paycheck is going. I will also have to make a Z scale Dennis Weaver figure.
Now that you mention it that truck that Tom made and painted is an exact replica of the fuel truck in the movie "Duel"!! I mean he nailed it not only with the details of the tractor and fuel trailer but his fantastic paint job! I can’t wait to see what 60’s and 70’s vehicles Tom comes out with. John
Oh it´s not me out bidding you..not yet anyways.. I am positive he well sell alll the Z cars he can make. These are the cars for my era, and for you modern guys, well you can always do the classic car show thing. Have it near the old depot in town and then you can run steam too. Everybody wins.
Well I've ordered mine (4 of each and a couple of the 'Duel' trucks) and Tom has said the Caddy he does in N might be out in Z in the new year. I also asked about the Hot Rod model T he does in N as I can see the potential for a drag race on the next layout. In combination with the trucks and vans I got from Randy Brown the other week the road situation is looking a lot more authentic on Cuyahoga now!
All, I am glad that you like Tom's vehicles and that you are rapidly purchasing them but please be patient with him since he is a one man shop. Yours, John
All, Check eBay, Tom Phalen of made2scalemodels has more Z scale vehicles for sale. Just bought one of each. Happy New Year! John
Happy days! I hadn't seen any of his Z scale vehicles for a while, and had really wanted to get a few of the tractor-trailers. This time I finally manage to acquire a the few I was looking for. :w20z6q: ~Paul E.
Check out the new made2scalemodels painted and unpainted vehicles. http://www.ebay.com/sch/made2scalem...530825&pt=Model_RR_Trains&_trksid=p4340.l2562 Enjoy! John
Perhaps this dealer has no idea of the great potential he has if he also makes even more recent models. I think the fileld is wide open for this fellow. Decent prices and the quality looks to be pretty good.
Loren, I've talked with Tom many times. He has some super ideas and some fantastic vehicles he is working on (he has been gracious to show me some prototypes) but he is a one man show who also produces vehicles in N scale and produces vehicles as he has time. Truly great potential I totally agree!! He (as do you and i) wishes there were more hours in a day. Keep your Z eye on Tom - he has some great vehicles yet to produce. Yours, John
