Hey guys, I know most of us here model the big names in railroading, but I had an idea for a new Fallen Flags segment. I'm looking for support for fans of the Maine Central, or maybe the B&M and MEC before Guilford (D&H) is already running. Let me know, as since moving to IL, its harder to get MEC information. I would open this forum to both steam and diesel. I will post a similar msg in the HO and other forums. C'mon New Englander's, show your support [IMG]

Count my vote. I have been modelling the MEC, B&M, D&H, and BAR for years. I have a lot of books and pics in my collection. I feel fortunate that even though there are very few commercially painted locos in my "flavors", most of what the prototypes owned has been produced by Atlas, Kato and Life Like. I am most proud of my 22 custom painted MEC locos and cabooses.
Living here in Maine, I still can find tons of freight equipment in the old green and gold, not to mention, over the years retired locos in their original paint.
It is unfortunate that Guilford took over, the railroad is dying. Plus they ruined some great paint schemes!

I would like to support a B&M/MEC forum. I lived next to the Fitchburg Division in Hoosick, NY during the late 40's and early 50's. Even rode the Minuteman (6000) from Hoosick Falls, NY to Ayer, MA in April 1953

I assume you are aware of the Forum supported by the Boston & Maine Historical Society. http://network54.com/Hide/Forum/43027

Anybody live close to Blain, Maine? My wife was born there. Her father raised the Mount Katadon potatos there for years, shipping out on the narrow gauge. (I'm not sure of the spelling.) I'm sure she would love to buy one of those crate lables for her scrap book.

Hi Hank, yes I use to attend the B&M Historical meetings when I lived up in NH. So far most of my Pre-Guilford stuff is in N scale, most of which I have painted myself. B&M 4266 in the bankruptcy blue, and a RS3 in the multi stripe. I just finished a GP9 #563 as it appeared in 1975. I added a winterization hatch, relocated the horns, added the nose mounted bell which I modified, MU hoses, and even added the engineer figure. The model was painted with Polly Scale, and I used Concord Car Shops decals. The model won first place at a local N-Trak meeting, not bad since I now live in the mid-west! My next project is a MEC GP38. Long live the Pine Tree Route! [IMG]

There is a MEC group on the yahoo groups. http://groups.yahoo com. This is an email group. You have to sign up etc but there seems to be quite a bit of info. You can find out all the groups available by scrolling thru www.railserve.com.
