    Nice looking tree Mike.

Might I suggest getting some cheap bathroom (or window) sealant for the bark. It's the stuff that is used for sealing/waterproofing the gap round the bath tub or a double glazed window.

I squirt some out onto a piece of card and apply with an old brush. It dries pretty quickly, adds bulk where required and can be applied in layers.

I got a tube of brown sealant from the UK equivalent of a dime store and it will do upwards of 100 trees.

Jon, is this the usual silicone based sealant? If so, does it take paint ok, or do you leave in the brown colour?

Very nice looking and very realistic looking tree.
    Great tutorial.
I'll be giving this a try for my n-scale layout.

You could dip your armature into plastigrip, but it will dry flat and smooth unless you run a brush along it as it dries.
I have no flocking material yet but here is the start of mine. Although it does not compare well to the great stuff I see here.

Great overall scene! Variations in the vegetation, nice rock outcropping, etc.

This product does not sound famiiar. Could you tell me a little about it? Something found easily at the big box home hardware type stores?

I'm thinking Plasti-dip. the stuff one would dip the handles of pliers or other hand held tools in. I know they currently have a lot more colors than they used too.

That is it. I wrote it wrong. Its locked up with the spray paint at the big box stores. Once open it does not keep well so be ready to use as much of it as possible.
