I ran across an opinion that Micro-Engineering Code 83 flex track don't match up with Walthers Code 83 turnouts. Any experience or remedies that can be utilized?
The problem is with tie thickness. This is a problem with mixing different brands not just ME and Walthers. The Walthers ties are not as thick so you either have to elevate the switch of take down the track leading to the switch. I like to take down the ties leading to the switch. I use a sanding block to taper the back of the flex track. I start sanding about 12" from the end. Be sure to taper it or there will be an abupt elevation change that can lead to derailments or uncouplings.
Interesting situation, I recently mated code 70 shinohara to code 100 atlas flextrak. What was surprising to me was that the hights of both tracks were identitical, I guess the ties on the code 70 are thicker, I'll have to go and look.
