Hey all, I'm looking to get your thoughts on which manufacture of track is better looking? DO you prefer the look of Peco or Micro Engineering and why. The reason for the question is that I'm getting ready to start laying track soon on the lower level and want to buy the track now so when the day comes it's on hand.
Micro Engineering for sure, but I think the newest version of Peco's turnouts, Code 83, might give the ME's a better run for the money in terms of looks.
First and foremost I want to thank all who have submitted responses to this question, it’s much appreciated. I have received a pretty good deal on the Peco code 83 track so guess that’s what I’m going to use.
Jim I get it, you all like ME for track but the deal I got for the Peco is fantastic and just couldn't pass it up. With that said thanks for the input though.
There are other considerations too. ME track is challenging to curve and keep straight (I know, I use it in a few places). Peco is much easier to bend. On a purely realistic basis, ME is better. If you throw in ease of use, Peco might come out ahead, easier to use, not quite as prototypical. Both are better than Atlas in the looks department.
Have any photos at all of the layout, yet? Even if just the benchwork Good luck. Of course I am sure at some point a overall layout thread will be started?
While I previously voted for ME, as to appearance, there is nothing wrong with Peco track. It is top of the line in quality.
Ok gents here are just a few photos of the layout as of right now. Unfortunately I’m in Oman on a job and then off to Perth Australia for a couple days then back home. That won’t be long lived as the family will be headed to Nevada for some family business, so this is all the progress made so far.
