Has anyone one used the Micro-Mark Truck Tuner? This is the little reamer that cleans up the axle point pockets on plastic freight car wheelsets. Before I invest over $20 with shipping, I'd like to know if it works. Thanks for all replies.

I bought one a couple of years ago. I have only had to use it a couple of times, but it does work wonders. I found that it being kinda small it was difficult for me to get it in and out of the wheelset.

    Yes, buy it. USE IT!

2 to 3 years ago I made the decision to take all of my freight cars and few passenger cars through the NMRA "tuning" routine. THe works. That included weight, coupler height, wheel gauge, and all metal wheelsets after "tuning" the trucks.

I got the "truck tuner" from Micro-Mark. I have since purchased another "truck tuner" from a tool vendor at a show. I paid like $9.95 for it or something.

It works. I took 100% of my cars off the layout. I purchased packages of 33" Kadee and other brand wheel sets. As each car went back on, I applied the correct weight, the metal wheelsets, and checked the coupler heights. THe truck tuner has made all the difference in the world.

As for the $20. I would thumb through the Micro Mark catalog and see if there are other goodies you want. Order a few things to spread the cost of shipping around. Usually, I keep a catalog of theirs hanging around and make a list. When I feel I can part w/ the bucks, I order several things from them at a time. Just helps "spread the love" around on the shipping cost.

But, yes. Not only buy thing... USE IT! It works.
