I noticed that Joe D'Amato is on the Train-board here, welcome! Maybe this question is premature, but do you know if the turnouts for the new track will be free from those ugly coffin boxes on the sides like the Marklin type? Again I know this might be premature, but I am curious as I really like the new track, and am chomping at the bits for the turnouts. Thanks in advace!

It would have been too soon about 6 months ago! Yes it will have that huge box on the side, sorry no way around it. But, our first release is supposed to be an unpowered turnout and as of the last design I reviewed we had a slot in the bottom for under track switches. These babies are so small there's no way to get the electronics inside the switch...sorry.

Ok..that didn't read right. The box is not on the side when it is unpowered. I believe it will be easy to remove if you have a powered unit. As far as the number goes, this first one is the same 13 degree 490 radius switch as that used on the Marklin system. We wanted to make ours compatible so they could drop in existing layouts or be able to use Marklin components if necessary.

[IMG] [IMG] Atleast mold the black coffin in gray to match the track! [IMG]

Joe, since you can't eliminate it, how about try to camouflage it.

Ok, so what you are saying is, if you go manual, then there are no boxes on the sides right? [IMG] Well, that sounds good to me, as I don't like electric turnouts anyway!

Yep, at this point we want to do it in the same sort of speckled black and grey plastic we did the road bed in. I really tried to get everything shoe-horned into the roadbed but there was no room..sorry!!
