:thumbs_up::thumbs_up: As always... VERY, VERY NICE!!! Can I send you all of my MTL and AZL locos to receive the special Gerd touch?
As always, fantastic work Gerd! I'm really looking forward to seeing my SW1 and GP7s. Thanks for your efforts. John
Hmmm, closet Milwaukee fan? Only a MILW fan would know that one!:teeth: Gerd, again, awesome job!! That sure is an odd place for the MILW herald though? Did you see this in a pic somewhere? I have one of these geeps, I might have to pull it out!
Herald location is incorrect. Should be on the cab side. I do not recall if any of their ten 800 series received Billboarding. For being down graded by that time to work such as hump yards, I wouldn't believe so. But.... Boxcab E50
Hmmm. Then we have a small mystery. That placement is non-standard. These units were off-roster not long after the March of 1980 embargo. Officially retired (January, 1981), and sold to a leaser/recycler in May of 1984. What you are seeing would then be an ex-Milw engine. Perhaps someone stuck that up there just for fun, but it's not prototypical. Boxcab E50
Here is the same locomotive in 1-18-1981. Looks like the cab logo is gone and the new one wasn't added yet. http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw804aga.jpg Still a nice model!
That is the month they were officially retired. As far as I know, they sat in storage with some other engines in the St.Paul area for some time. I have mailed a friend who may know the new owner at the time this June photo was taken. Meanwhile, what we see, my guess is someone was being nostalgic or whimsical..... But it's not correct as a prototype. Boxcab E50
