    Ray,

I think a lot of people would be interested in a how-to. Not just the decoder, but the flange reduction.

OK, will do. I'll try to post both tomorrow evening (working daylight now).

This model has been re-released a few years ago in the Netherlands. Minitrix wanted to sell it as a Dutch switcher, but you must have a lot of fantasy.....

COALPORTER, atsf_arizona, Ray H., your H12-44s make me wish that the MoP had used these, that way I could legitimately use another switcher on my layout. Oh well, at least there are VO-1000s out in N.

    Matthew,
Don't let thet small fact that MoP didn't run these. SP didn't run any 2-6-6-2's but one appears on my roster.

I have been in the hobby since 1979 when I was 4 years old. One of the first locomotives I purchased was a Minitrix F-9 A-B-A set. Although these are different locomotive than the H-12-44 they had practically the same mechanism. My dad has a H-12-44 that is painted in Chehalis Western like the prototype that he had since 1979. He has not done any modifications to it mechanically and it still runs just as good today as the day it came out of the box.

Any chance you could post a picture of this unit?

Actually, the Trix F-unit had an entirely different motor, and it wasn't anywhere near as good as the motor they used in the 0-6-0 with tender, K4, U28, and FM switcher. All those motors were the same. That was one fine three-pole motor of its time, narrow, powerful, easily maintained, and ran relatively cool. I still have those motors in my Rapido 0-6-0 and the "Bigfoot" Heisler. But most of the Trix parts were interchangeable, way ahead of their time, and lots and lots of METAL, unlike the competition of the time.

Sure can boxcab. Next time I am down at my dads I will take a pic of it and post it on here and send you a copy as well.

My Pennsylvania FM is painted a rather "green DGLE". Is this prototypical for a very faded DGLE, or is this a case for the waiting list to be repainted (if I ever manage to use my airbrush properly....)

A case for the waiting list to be repainted, alas. Never saw a faded PRR Diesel that looked green. Get a spray can of Scalecoat II PRR Brunswick Green and have at it if you can't get your airbrush working properly. :shade:
