Minor CSX Derailment in Hamilton, Ohio

Six empty cars of a 150-car train jumped the tracks just before the Little Miami River crossing. Nice slide show at:

Not a real problem as it blocked about six streets, and there were drive-arounds.

 

Hopefully that Crossing Gate is the only true loss. Those cars look like they have seen better days...

I loved the Mike the correction officer's reply to the inconvenience--it meant a longer drive to the donut shop.

 

Wonder if a broken axle was to blame or that it picked a switch.

 

Engineer error.

 

I thought it was a track problem, but don't know where to look to find the true cause.

 

I can't elaborate on official wording of the cause, since I work for them.
