https://nbcmontana.com/news/local/trains-derails-near-old-trego-store-crossing This track was once a part of the Great Northern RY transcontinental line through Montana. Since 1970 it has been just a branch line, between Stryker and Eureka. It was stubbed off when Libby Dam was built, and the main re-routed . It is a small, likely very low budget operation, which is one of the Watco companies. Their only remaining traffic is car storage, and outgoing Canadian lumber reloaded from trucks at Eureka. No hazmat is hauled. They use a one man crew, RCO.
I caught this train about ten years ago. The very same road crossing is about 50 feet in front of the lead engine seen here.
That is what everyone is reporting. I am wondering what they will need to do, to re-rail it. MMRR has no equipment.
Thought about that. Not sure if that would work here. I have a feeling they will try, having no other way to do so, in their available equipment.
