This train is headed for the "H" line, which is the old Southern route that is actually owned by the North Carolina Railroad Company. It owns the trackage from Charlotte to Morehead City and leases it to Norfolk Southern. Harold
If you want an aerial view of the complex (and interesting, I think) trackage in this area, go to Google Maps http://maps.google.com/ and search: Raleigh Amtrak station then switch to the satellite view and zoom in. You'll see it all in great detail! Harold
Thank's Harold Yes we do see some NS action. The main line comes right through downtown Anniston. I cross over it everyday coming from work. Stan.
Stan, Welcome to trainboard! Harold, I like that shot of those 3900's in Southern running long hood forward. One of these days I'll have to dig out some of my stuff from the 80's and see what I can share
Thanks,,,, Snow is pretty much a rarity in these parts, so I was lucky enough to A) get snow and B) see trains and C) have camera. Harold
I love this shot - it's a scene waiting to happen on somebody's layout! I see some white specks already in place!
The picture shows the remnants of a cement plant that appears to be used as a construction equipment staging location.... It is much cleaner today... Harold
