This unit was part of UP by this date (early 90's) but was still untouched. Wonder what ever happened to her.
What was the date? I love those Katy Dash 2's. I had a custom painted one when I was in HO that was outstanding.
It was early 90's Doug. Maybe 1993. Thought the date was on the pic but wasn't. Edited the post to show a time frame.
Well, according to ESPRRFAN (Duane) here is the skinny on "last MKT locos" from a question I asked several years ago: The 1st unit to be repainted was Gp38-2 #315 to UP#2346 dated Nov 88. The MKT GP38AC were all repainted 4Jan89-2Jan91. GP38-2 #318-321 r/p Jan-May 90v The last SD40-2 was #636 repainted to UP 3843 13 Nov 90. UP 1325 Ex MKT 53 was the last MKT repainted into UP. Happened 25 November 1993 Now, it wouldn't surprise me if an SD40-2 slipped through the cracks, especially if it got routed east for a while. That's why I asked...proof of the date on that photo could tell a great story. However, I also think that MKT 53 is an extreme case...there's no way that it took 5 years for UP to repaint...I would buy two years at around 98% of the fleet so I guess that would leave us 53 and 636. ;-)
Will have to dig this photo back out and see what date I have written on the back. I'm pretty sure this shot was not in the 80's.
