Fresh from documentary film maker Sara Kelly is this two-and-a-half minute video trailer for Model Citizens narrated by Michael Gross: http://vimeo.com/99399840 The project website is: http://modelcitizensmovie.com/ Currently there are eight video shorts on the project website. Sara has begun interviewing model railroaders and railfans from around Southern California about the hobby and the fascination trains have for so many of us. Eventually scores of people from all phases of the hobby, including layout owners, club members, railfans, hobby shop operators, model railroad photographers, collectors and others, will be interviewed for this documentary with many of the video interviews appearing in the eventual documentary movie. Maybe I am confusing my thoughts about Michael Gross, but didn't he join Trainboard a couple of years ago? If so, we have not seen much of him ... but obviously, he is a busy man.
Michael gross is an actor who played the dad on Family ties. He was famous as a model railroader and as an investor in the atsf spinoff short line that runs to Santa Fe NM. I remember some news show back then that showed him at the throttle of a CF7.
I like it. I recall Michael Gross of course from Family Ties but also on a number of railroad safety commercials. This ought to be fun to watch. Rick H.
The Model Citizens video is available — and you can watch it for free if you're an Amazon Prime member: Model Citizens at amazon.com I was involved with it a little bit (very little bit) and even make a brief silent appearance. The movie is worth seeing. It's not often that you get to see a documentary on the people who make a hobby what it is.
