Here's some photos of beginning efforts to model the rr park at the BNSF/UP crossing in Rochelle, IL Daryl
looks very cool daryl, i need to get up to rochelle someday. i spent all this past weekend in galesburg and now i need to broaden my railfanning a little.
Very Nice, Darryl! I assume that you will also have a Webcam mounted on the building, one that we can link to and watch while you operate .... !!?
Actually, the thought did cross my mind. I was thinking of mounting on the wall so that the view would be the same as the one on Trains.com. Daryl
Daryl, that looks very good, is this on a module or a home layout? Are you in Rochelle Daryl? I am kicking around the idea of starting a Rockford based N Trak club. If it were not for Bloomington and Champaign I would never get to run my stuff If I could get enough people I might get something going. Rockford has the local NMRA, but that is mainly HO. Hmm, Blackhawk NTrak, or maybe Rock River N Trak. Mitch, if you do come up to Rochelle give Tina and me a hollar, there are some other cool spots I know of. I'm always looking for an excuse to railfan!
What an interesting project, Daryl. I have viewed the webcam a number of times, and one on the layout would be fun Are you scratchbuilding the whole area, or are there any building kits you can utilise?
Its on a home layout in Rochelle, IL. See web page Our next operating session is Saturday, July 27. Email if you're interested in participating. BTW - What kinda stuff do you have to run? Daryl
Thanks for the invite Daryl I would love to attend. Currently I model modern day BNSF (thanks to my wifes influence ) although our engine roster looks more like 96-97 with more of her BN stuff patched up than repainted. Tina also bought me a Kato AmTrak set. As you can see by my handle, I also model a little bit of Maine Central, and Boston & Maine. I would enjoy the meet as I would like to get some ideas for my home layout, before I invest a lot of money and lumber.
