How many users here program relatively high levels of acceleration/deceleration momentum into their decoders?

I have read elsewhere that some modelers do this (for both acceleration and deceleration) to replicate the nature of very heavy trains, and then use the brake function to slow more quickly when needed.

Some users comment on this behaving more normal, even compared to driving a car.

This also affects sound decoders (virtual or otherwise), which then simulate the engine sound/rpm changing with the throttle, not necessarily the speed of the locomotive.

Note: As I am discovering, not all decoders support a braking function (particularly at least some NCE and Digitrax decoders), so this approach would not be possible with them.

    What say y'all?
