Overall view of Andersley yard, looking east. The boxcars at the high level on the right are in "Los Angeles" yard, the track into the tunnel is the line to the "San Francisco" Intermodal yard. The next track is the three percent climb up to summit, and the entrance to LA yard. The piggyback train is on the westbound main, next to it is the eastbound main. Then come the four through yard tracks, and the locomotive ready track, next to the (unfinished) locomotive servicing facility. View from the LPG facility spur through the bridge, looking east Shot of the yard throat, through the bridge, and the locomotive servicing facility. Union Pacific locomotives on the ready track, and Andersley Western Alcos on the servicing tracks. The building, and surrounding details not yet completed. Close up of the AW Alcos at the service area. Lots of details still to add on the locomotives.
Nice shots Alan what is the length of your yard? I like your engine service facility and especially your freelanced loco's
Alan, Sweet pixx!!! I especially enjoyed all the M-T equipment I recognized.. How much of that intermodal train was not your homebuilt rolling stock? I had to pack up my stuff.. moving day in in a short few days.. BUT then I get to finish planning my layout, and actually BUILD it!!!!
Hemi, I think the cars on the piggyback train which can just be seen, are all my spine cars or 89ft flatcars. Good luck with the move, and the layout building
Paul, just went and measured the yard, and the longest track is about two metres, the shortest is one metre. The short one is used for the local freights.
