Hit Railfair in Golden this past Saturday. Found several more interesting paper items to add to my collection of Rio Grande paper. Including a couple of freight way bills that are pre 1920's!! Another dining car slip, for alcohol orders. And a framed safety award to the DRGW from 1954. As well as a Slack Action warning sign. Also scored a couple of mile markers, from Tennessee Pass signals. 294.47 - Signal between Pando and Belden. 296.45 - Signal between Beldin and Minturn. And arriving in the mail today, was a DRGW Money Order stub, from Dec 31, 1896. Overall, I considered it a good day!
It's usually twice a year, early Jan and towards the end of July. They tried to set up show same time in July as Cheyenne Frontier Days. Have heard this could be the end of the show. It is NOT promoted and there's virtually no one there. A mismanaged show. IMO.
I don't that UP has. Betting that others have done so, since line is no longer used. However, I can NOT guarantee the mile markers are from said locations. Can only go by info that was on markers at time of purchase.
Thanks Keith! I had never heard of the show and would of possibly headed over to check it out had I known about it. It's too bad that it has mismanaged. Ben
I wouldn't say UP has, more like railfans have. Every signal location I've seen has been pretty well picked over and destroyed. Even the boxes are open and gutted. Mike
