So. Based in a recent experience, I decided to look up what that broad evilbait definition of "vintage" is. http://community.ebay.com/t5/Archiv...intage-Definition-and-differences/td-p/883115 The correct usage of the word vintage must be used with a year. ie. my car is vintage 2001... my computer is vintage 1999... this WWII item is vintage 1943... etc... Ebay does not require a year to be listed And: However, on ebay "vintage" often seems to mean anything that was purchased less than 24 hours ago, is dirty and worn, or looks like it might be old if you don't know anything about history and squint really hard It is as overused, and misused, as "rare". Followed by: Actually; The correct usage of the word vintage is when identifying the year when a wine was made. Since the term has been hijacked and abused for the sole purpose of describing and hocking other non-wine related items; it's rather meaningless and can pretty much be used the way anyone wishes to continue abusing it. The use of the word vintage in auctions is becoming more and more like the, (most over used word) rare. . A good reason to hit the [Back] button when you see it, because it most often says the seller doesn't know anything about what they are selling. then: Ive been told several times by dealers that anything 100 yrs or older is an antique. And that anything 50 yrs or older is vintage or called grandmas furniture or stuff. So now Im confused, where does collectibles come into it. How old does something have to be to be called a collectible. Does that apply to new item out, or older items that are on the market now? Seems to be any seller who claims something is "vintage" without stating a year is clueless. I think I may have some fun with the evilbait threads on "vintage"....Lord knows some sellers seem to have it set as a hotkey on their computer...... Then there's Trainz, who state that anything 1989 or older is "vintage". Good advice to hit the "back" button, eh?
I don't believe age factors into something being collectible. I think of such things as the "Beanie Babies" and how folks were madly grabbing up each one as fast as they came out. Or sports card collectors buying current issues. I believe it's just desirability, as seemingly anything can be "collectible", regardless of age. Definitions of "vintage" and "antique" are all over the map. There's no world standardized application that I have ever seen. It's one thing to one group, another to others.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Global-Trus...565087?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e939d189f Found this on the bait.....under Toys & Hobbies>Model Railroads & Trains>HO Scale>Walthers I know what it is...not quite sure what it has to do with Half Zero trains. Humour.
It may just be a standard signature block, but I find the inclusion of available tech support slightly amusing. And at 3 meters diameter, I suppose you could attach flex track to the top?
I understand the description of "triangular circle". Yet whenever I such wording it always seems a bit amusing. Even more so when it is listed as something to do with HO model railroading.
Yeah, I know, not Hzero, or even trains...but this just shows on evilbait, someone will buy absolutely nothing. Sold for $250.......you gotta read the descriptions and see the photos.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Isetta-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
LOL, looks like it's a charity auction. So $250 went to charity. Also, I'm impressed that much was left after sitting in the Des Plains river.
That has to be one of the best eBay listings I have seen, good that some people have a sense of humor and the advert was not pulled.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Scale-Wa...262307?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20f3cd28e3 How many collectors of Half 0 Walthers are there that need an empty box for their collection?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-TRAIN-WA...467935?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4ae2c9fbdf Even more empty boxes...buy it now!
I have that exact same box, I'll sell it for half of what he's asking! Be the first on your block!!!!!
Go to a swap meet. You may find one of those boxes for near that same price, with the actual car inside.
First photo, front coupler looks like it is about to fall out. Trip pin is way down between the rails. No way it can run properly if so....
That is about the going rate for older Atlas/Roco units. The white number probably represents a CSX stencil. A good cleaning would certainly help.
