I'd like to know on just what planet these locomotives are "Erie Lackawanna"... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Atl...875512?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item43cc07da38
I really miss a place here that closed recently..It was called: "The Train Shop",sold mostly Lionel, but they had a case of N...They'd stock up before Christmas, but the day after Christmas, they had a 50% off sale every year, and their prices weren't all that horrible to begin with....
After a few beers, if you stare at them real hard, for a long time, then have a few more beers..... Obviously hand painted. Ugh. Custom by Glop-Dip.
Reminds me of a '73 Mustang Mach I my friend bought years ago..The add said:"body is nice and straight, but it looks like is was painted with a dirty mop"..
Obviously, these locos are not "Erie Lackawanna" on any planet. They are "Erie Lackawanna" on a BOX LABEL. Isn't that what's important to "Kollectors"? Also the paint scheme as shown is "hand painted" and I for one (4-1?) believe it! Doesn't that add to their rarity and value for people who want something different just because it's different? (Not for me though...)
Well if you break down the name Lackawanna into two parts it comes out to I Lack painting skills and I Wanna believe somebody will buy these things. I just got through throwing in the trash can some of my earlier painting efforts that I thought were nowhere near up to par on any ones list.
"a real find, especially at this price" http://www.ebay.com/itm/Two-pieces-...281971?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d200e2df3
Pushing the boundaries of ethical: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151352740207 The price implies that this is powered. Believing this to be a Del Prado type static model, seller should clarify. Part of me would like to report this. Some unsuspecting buyer might be unaware. Hate for it to be someone new to the hobby and subsequently turned off. More of a More Ebay Rage than Humor...
Yup, its a Del Prado. I hope your right that someone doesn't buy it thinking its a nice powered model !!
I did ask and got the response, direct and complete quote: "It is not powered." Note that this response was NOT added to the listing. I tend to agree with you on this JM... misleading at best.
The Del Prado models are worth about $14.99. Sadly not everyone is as informed as we tend to be here and may buy the thing for far too much money. It's odd that the seller didn't include any facts about the model itself. Makes me think that its a deliberate attempt at fraud. He's going to end up refunding money and maybe getting banned from E Bay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KATO-N-SCAL...902124?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item27e7931aec Looks like someone missed a decimal point.
Could be an attention getter as well! Got to wonder how many have looked at it since Ike posted it?? I've seen this done before.
Didn't realize that Concor even MADE lamps, let alone very valuable lamps... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schneider-A...291583?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item5d4dbe8aff
