totally agree, looks to be MDF - and thinwall at that. Not sure how sturdy those kits can be by looking at it, so am sure they flex pretty easily. Still, it just invites eyebrow raises when it's right there in your photos o_O

Just a heads up here. As we many times seem to touch upon shipping costs- For the fourth time in the past twelve months, (as of July 12th), USPS has raised some of their fees. :(

Not N Scale, but eBay and someone's notion of a "Logo Wood Plaque-Sign/Man Cave/Train & Kids Room". I'm a near lifetime fan of the EJ&E and if someone's going to produce this sort of thing, they should try to get their facts straight. "The Roarin' Elgin" as shown was not the EJ&E, but was the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin interurban. Ooops. Well, too late to change it now.

My estimate that many of the postings we see on eBay are stale is correct and even worse than I thought. There are hundreds of walking dead items that have been posted for years. Random case in point are these two.

Here's a car with a Buy It Now price of $18.00 plus shipping. It was first posted 09/20/2017 (that's right folks, almost five years ago) and was last edited 12/11/21.

    upload_2022-7-25_14-41-21.png

These 1970s body shells (including some of our classic roofless ones) have been posted with a Buy It Now price of $150.00 since 10/18/2020 without any adjustment in price.

That's what happens when eBay got rid of Insertion Fee. Now everyone will list all kinds of junk with no hurt to their wallets. No need to think twice before listing!

Not just that, I have multiple listings I have had on my watchlist for some time because the shipping charge keeps changing every few days. I even had one that was listed with free shipping that I added to purchase when payday rolled around and the next morning shipping was magically $45.

I have to imagine the listings like that will stay in circulation forever or until some sucker comes along and decides it's worth it to them to pay the extortion prices because they either have no clue and/or just really want the item.

A Mehano FA for fifty two and change? This thing is worth fifteen dollars on a good day for the seller. On a good day, with professional grade straight and level trackwork with no turnouts, it will pull three freight cars and a caboose. For another twenty three or so dollars, I can buy a LL plastic frame FA-2 that will pull every piece of rolling stock that I own up a fifty per-cent grade on seven inch radius curves....................and I refuse to pay any more than twenty five dollars for said plastic frame FA-2. We can pass over the FA's not stalling on plastic frog turnouts while the Mehano will stall on freshly track erased straight and level.

I get it. FeePay has really jacked up its fees since I last sold there with regularity. LL plastic frame FAs and F-units that used to go for twenty five dollars new all day-every day are now priced at seventy five dollars. Used are still over fifty bananas. I get it, the seller must recover his fees. Despite that, I am not paying seventy five dollars for something that is worth only twenty five. I certainly will not pay fifty-two bananas and change for something that will not do its job and is worth fifteen dollars on a good day.

Also, the Lockdown had the effect of introducing many people to online shopping. They had never seen regular prices and if an ebay seller can get premium prices, well, if it's how they make their living.

The $30.00 Plus Shipping untested Union Pacific 0-6-0 with broken cab roof (as noted in the listing) at https://www.ebay.com/itm/325284169319 isn't Bachmann and isn't Union Pacific, but is Rapido and W&A. It's also lacking its tender ...... which is not noted in the listing, but for another $13.00 plus shipping you can buy it from the same Seller in UP with its broken parts.
