I'd bid/win it on your behalf (Will two grand get it?! ;-), but I'm going to be gone for ten days. Do you have a phone number or good email address for 'transactual'? I think he'd help you out and he lives nearby.
Can't help on the why, but I do know that there is now a provision in the blocked bidder list that allows the seller to also block e-mails from blocked bidders. Given the current bidder is apparently new, and there's a fairly high correlation between "new" and "highly motivated," the seller could have shot his/herself in the foot to the tune of a few hundred incremental bucks. Oh, well.
Here's several examples of a seller who thinks that everything he is selling is gold (at least it includes shipping): [h=1]N Scale Atlas Burlington Northern Caboose $35:[/h]http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Atlas-Burlington-Northern-Caboose-3565-by-Model-Railroad-Co-Mint-/171056445723?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item27d3c2391b [h=1]N Scale Atlas 40' #3440 Union Pacific Box Car $25:[/h]http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Atlas-40-3440-Union-Pacific-Box-Car-Automated-RWY-MINT-/171048400712?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item27d3477748 Bachmann Crane Car and Boom Tender $40: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cra...440179?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item27d3c22373 [h=1]Atlas 3775 Santa Fe Piggy Back Flat Car $25:[/h]http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Atlas-3775-Santa-Fe-Piggy-Back-Flat-Car-by-Model-Railroad-Co-Mint-/171057640513?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item27d3d47441
I'm looking for the Atlas SP piggyback flats (which is were all the piggybacks are coming from) and while I'm sure Atlas didn't make a lot of any of the flats in that run in 2009, I can't imagine why this GN one is $30 plus shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271226556093&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
BTW, if anyone knows where I can find some Atlas SP piggys in the Daylight (orange and red) paint I would greatly appreciate it...
MT SD box car...no road, just data $400: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MTL-020-00-...433182?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4174526d1e
More '60s junk trains (Minitrix, early Atlas, and Aurora) for $500: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Min...128908?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c33dbd3cc
1 Arnold C&NW commuter coach $79 or BIN $105: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arnold-N-Sc...338206?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c33cfc31e
I've listed this one before, but thought that they just misplaced a decimal point. Now they are back and trying a new technique. Atlas Southern gon, hopper, and covered hopper for $1,100.00 in a standard auction and a second listing as a buy it now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-mod...600180?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item257f2f5c34 http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-mod...663595?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item257ec5842b
It SAYS Bachmann SF N scale train set but the picture shows three rail track and what looks to be O gauge. Description says that the engine is a GP-50 (photo is F units) so it still would have earned a listing here at $250: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121129198437
How about $170 for a Life Like (not the Kato) F-40ph (and $18 shipping on top of that)?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LifeLike-N-...861667?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d683223
Another one of those seemingly purposefully blurry shots coupled with descriptions that aren't anywhere withing a light year's travel. From what I can see, MARX diesels. There is a tender, maybe Lionel, passenger cars almost look spray painted white, windows and all. Nobody can ever complain to evilbait about what they get not being as described, since you can't make it out in the photos. Morons. Dave
It still amazes me that people think that "unopened in original packaging" makes a locomotive valuable in contrast to if it was a Life Like F-40ph repowered with the Kato chassis.
New in box with Micro Trains couplers? I've got a couple of these from late 80's. Did Lifelike do a rerun using the same road numbers and install MT couplers? Looked at the sellers other stuff all with HIGH prices. Atlas GP 9 DC version $190 Gary
Maxairedale, how did I miss the other items? I especially like the $50 Atlas wood reefer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-N-SCA...588830?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d734a9e The $170 LifeLike SW-8s (although better than the LL F-40ph): http://www.ebay.com/itm/LifeLike-N-...853140?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d6810d4 http://www.ebay.com/itm/LifeLike-N-...857222?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d6820c6 The $190 Atlas RS-1 and RS-11: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-N-SCA...844330?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d67ee6a http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-N-SCA...840466?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d67df52 and the $300 LifeLike Miami Tri Rail F-40ph: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Life-Like-N...404918?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564d707c36
To make things more interesting many of the items state the following: MSRP: Discontinued Item Not sure what the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price has to do with the item being discontinued, other then trying to over charge for something. Gary
