Man, quiet board! Well, if there any of SoCal SP fans looking to find solid sets of gray and red power, lately SP's small yard in Anaheim has been the place to find it! For the past few months, the West Colton-Anaheim Haulers (and vice-versa) have been sporting solid sets of SP/SSW power, usually six axle, with occasional DRGW and 4-axle units thrown in. Went by there earlier today and saw:

Anaheim Hauler Power parked on wye: SP GP40M-2 7136, SP SD40R 7365, SP SD40R 7332

Costa Mesa/Bellflower Local Power parked in front of office: SP GP40M-2 7105, SP GP38-2 48?? (forgot the number, but it was one of the former CSX/SBD/L&N AMF Rebuilds).

I've also noticed more power beng used on the haulers; they seem to be getting longer and longer, sometimes around 100 cars. Four six-axle, high-hp units are preferred, and UP has been using the older SP power on these trains; SD45R's, and even SD45T-2R's have been showing up lately. It's nice to see these units making what will probably be their last stand on these trains; the haulers have a reputation for catching older power that's getting close to retirement. The SDP45's, SD7/9's, SD35's, GP20's, GP35's, and SD39's used to be regulars on these trains before being retired. I guess that's it for now; I'll probably shoot by Dolores Yard/ICTF in Long Beach this weekend to see the latest Alameda Corridor construction. That, and check out the work being done at Dolores, including the new engine facility.

Have you noticed how many of the ACs have yellow panels replacing the old grey ones?

I've noticed yellow replacement parts on all kinds of units, ranging from hood doors and battery boxes to UP or CNW-painted a/c units on SP C44-9W's. I guess as long as the part fits and does its job, the shop really doesn't care how it's painted!
