I just received my two ATSF PS-2, and it looks great. Its a little longer then a MTL caboose, so its a short car. I am very impressed with the printing. They look legible with magnifying glass. One iteresting point is that it has a different hopper door then the FR PS-2. I thought they would have the same design. With most MTL trucks they are fitted so tight that you have to loosen them, but this time it arrive with the proper amount of swivel. I have to get more, and repaint them into CSX colors. Tim, did you read that.
You have your PS2's already???? From whom did you buy your PS2's from? Hobby shop order them for you? I heard mine will take about 2.5 weeks to reach me. ugh! :lightning: Hobo Tim CSX? Hmmmmmm!
I didn't go either. I have spent the last 6 days doing not much of anything. I have started towards the garage at 7:00 every morning, ready to clean up, and ended up diddling around but not getting anything done at all. I've got some kind of mental block preventing me from getting the garage cleaned up, even if just enough so I can paint my passenger cars that I have been wanting to do for 2 years. I really need to get motivated before the heat wave sets in. -Robert
Robert, sometimes getting away from the hobby is good for you. Going on my 3 week vacation made me miss my trains. After coming back, I got a lot done. Maybe you need go railfannig or any train related activity that doesn't require you to do any work. Since I don't live near a railroad track, I watch a ton of DVD on trains. I prefer Pentrex videos, because they always look professionally done. They are releasing a new one on CSX. You know I have to have one. Don't worry, we all go through hitting slums. I am sure you will hit a home run on your next project. If you need any motivation, look at the latest Ztrack. There is a great article by Robert Ray.
NTS: Philly direct from Kez Central!!! hey guys! jim manley, randy smidt, and bryan and bret keyser here, posting direct from NTS: philly! sorry for the informal type here we're typing from bret's PSP anyways really missed you guys in DC (you missed a heck of a convention!) and wish you were here now! hopefully someone will stop running trains long enough to take some pictures...
Thanks for the report Bryan. I know how hard it is to post from PSP. Its not fun. We want more report, so practice your PSP typing. Have fun guys.
This is a very nice car and there are a bumper crop of possible roadnames. Just take a look at what Kadee has done in HO, for example. I'm hoping that MTL does two road numbers per release as they seem to have indicated.
That car really does look great thanks for the pictures John. I got a couple on the way as well...hopefully soon! By the way does the brown trucks blend in with the other black trucks from MT or do you think they'd all need to be weathered to match?
Joe, I think it definetly needs to be weathered, otherwise it looks too weird. I hope you do it first, and I will follow your lead.
Take a look at the Fallen Flags website: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org for some weathering examples. George Elwood prefers that direct links to photos not be made and I'm respecting that but there are shots of ATSF 82297 (one of the road numbers MTL used!) from 1958 and a black and white shot of ATSF 82295 from 1984.
Thanks for link, George. I found another great picture. I think the PS-2 is begging to be repainted. http://www.krunk.org/~joeshaw/pics/csxt/cvd-hop2/csxt220198-2.jpg
Thanks for the pic links of the prototypes guys. I think I will knock down some of the brown off the trucks with some grimy black when I get mine. I hope there isn't too much more of a wait!
