    delayed uncoupling demonstration.

    All,

I have made a new video to demonstrate delayed uncoupling with Kadee electro magnets. The magnets are connected to the auxilary output of a Märklin electronic 05 (brown) Z-scale controller. It works great for my switching puzzle.

That's exactly the result I want to get to. What's the scale of your Kadee electro-magnet uncoupler?

    Dom,

I have used 4 HO electro magnets Kadee #307 (could be HOe, not sure) from older projects. I see that Kadee now only has #309 HO. What I see from the drawing on their site is that the poles are installed the other way arround, compaired to #307. #309 pole gap as fwide as possible, #309 pole gap as close as possible (read: slightly wider than Z-track.)
I have asked Kadee what the difference is between #307 and #309, since I will need more magnetsf or new projects when my switching puzzle nears completion.
On my home page you can see how the magnet is installed.

    Dom,

To me, it looks that we can use #309, time will learn.
I got next quick response from Kadee:

The #307 was originally designed to mount up through the ties which made it
very visible. We developed the #309 to mount under the ties and be
completely hidden from view and be much easier to install. We use most of
the #307's components and added two more steel field plates (and a longer
bolt) and increased the voltage up to 16-18 volts to be strong enough to
operate HO couplers from under the track. We recommend acquiring a G scale
type of transformer to get that high of voltage but for Z scale you would
not need that much. The price difference reflects the extra parts and
    increase in material costs.

Thank you Frank. As Kadee never replied my various emails asking what the status of my #309 order is, I will try with other retailers. Have you any store in the US to suggest? And able to ship to France?

    Dom,

For when you get your uncouplers: I have used loger screws and aluminium brackets to mount the coil with pole shoes under the benchwork. The pole shoes should be flush with the rail bed (cork).

    Check out next pics:
