Thanks to the lead to Musket Miniatures I got here on Trainboard, I now have some very fine looking bison on my layout!! If you need buffalo for anything, I highly recommend these pewter castings. I cannot recommend the coyotes though...way out of scale. They would work for HO scale, but in N they look like small horses...or something from the time of the Mammoth (I call them Pleistocene Mega-Coyotes!). Anyway, I also got some Texas Long Horns, Cowboys, a mounted shepard and sheep...all very excellent castings. They are also very affordable. And no, I do not work for this company. Happy Modeling!!

    john,
any chance of seeing some pictures? It is interesting how difficult it is to get good American miniatures for layouts. I have approx 20 people but need hundreds more to really populate the layout. I have considered buying the Preisler unpainted figures but it would seem daunting to paint them all. Even vehicles are difficult to find unless you pay top dollar for European cars. While i was in PA a few years back I bought some cars but they seem a little large
probably a little large but they will do for now. Does anybody else have similar problems?

So far I do not have a single person or animal on my layout, and only one vehicle  Not sure I could fit in any bison, though [IMG]

Paul, I also considered getting some unpainted figures, but having painted several of these in HO scale, I would not relish the task of doing so in N! Life is too short [IMG]

    Well guys,
I keep promising pics to folks here and never seem to get around to it . I will make the effort very soon, since Module 1 is very nearly complete :D :D.
I have a set of the unpainted figures I purchased many years ago. I really like the detail on the figures and if you paint them a little bit at a time , the job is not so bad. What I do is build a scene and let the scene tell me how it should be populated. That way, I do not over-do the painting of figures that end up back in the box waiting to be placed elsewhere on the layout.
As far as vehicles go...very tough. Luckily I model the 1950s and there are several good kits available. Also, Classic Metal Works (http://www.classicmetalworks.com) has a FANTASTIC set of metal vehicles in N scale ;). The number of models is small right now, and limited to the 1940s and 1950s, but I believe they are planning on a whole line of these cars. So...I'll try to get pics to you soon, good luck and Happy Modeling!!

Alan, sounds like your layout turned into a ghost town. :D Are you sure your looking hard enough or asking around? I'm sure you'll find some help getting people & animals on your layout.

Will, it did not turn into a ghost town, it started out that way :D

Actually, I have been busy with the basics of the layout, and am only now turning to some of the finer points! There is still much 'basic' work to do, but I am slowly getting there, as time permits [IMG]

"I can see!" said the blind man as he peed freely into the wind, "It's all coming back to me now!" LOL :D

Time is a luxury, yes that is true! Just take your time and soon you'll have a beautiful layout waiting for people to see the hidden spots and details on your layout. The more detail you add, the more interesting it gets and the more second looks from people. Keep up the good work Alan [IMG]
