    The photogenic side of the new curved module is proving to be right here if I am careful with the shadows:

    The "country side" is really tree-ed in which is what I intended, thats an area where photos would have to be "stolen" of freight moving through tree cover.

    Got some shots in the sun (maybe too much now!!) of 5743, the newest SD40-2 on my D&H sub. Its close to done, needs a fade wash and Sinclair antenna, but here it is presently:

    This is the first unit I have re-worked the rear lights on. I picked up on how easy it was (relatively speaking of course) from the N scale diesel detailers group here on TB. Karl and Ram53 were doing it to their CP and CP root models and I decided to give it a go. I filed off the old Kato rear lights, drilled a small pilot hole, drilled out the necessary width for a small piece of brass tube I picked up, cut the tube and glued it from the inside. Filled the tube with Mirco Crystal clear and painted it. I don't know the diameter of tube I used, it was not labeled at the shop, I worked by dead reckoning. Now I am thinking its time to go back and do my others.

    The biggest issue (aside from handrails) I have had with 5743 is that the paint darkened on me somehow. I had the colors where I wanted them and used the salt method to apply weathered coats of differing reds. It was good and something I did during weathering later darkened it. Now I have to go back and try and use some fade coats. Not sure of some of my dark weathering powders ran off the radiator grills during dullcote phase, but a bit disappointed.

    As usual Karl, wonderful work. The simple grey is very eye catching and the whole scene works wonderfully. As we spoke of on another of your jobs, your locos always tell a story. These are not just looking at a grey SD40-2, you have the ILSX fact that these are secondhand power, the bell, rear headlight, DB, and snow shield, and the winter hatch on one that tell of their Canadian heritage. All adds to the interest and the story of these locos, well done!

    Miniatures by Eric makes many of the best detail parts for N Scale Canadian engines. You cannot beat his winter hatches. Sandro, they compliment your Sinclair antennas perfectly.

    Keep an eye out, there are two different multimarks, the original full height and the later short version. The first version was ditched because it was too difficult to mask up into the radiators. Here are the last 2 SD40-2 in the full height multimark:

    also there are multimark units with red/white striping on the end of the long-hood. not only black/white.
    oh, and don't forget the cooling pipes on the roof.....

    Yes, I used one of his winter hatches and bells on 5743, MBE is the best stop for a CP modeler for sure. I have a couple Sinclair antennas from Sandro on order!

    the piping was done by bending thin wire. then a few gmm liftrings ..... it is 'a bit' of a pain to install this piping but imho it looks good.

    btw, did you notice the brake wheels on the rear porch ? just a piece of styrene and a brake wheel. didn't know eric sells some.
