Well last weekend my wife gave me an early Christmas present...A Con Cor Big Boy.

Our club's annual open house was yesterday (which is why she got it for me early) and was the first oppourtunity I had to see it run on anything longer than a test track. All in all it didn't do too bad. It's not a great runner when compared with the likes of the newer Katos or the Kato Mike, but with clean track and clean pick-ups it runs acceptably well despite the $300 price tag.

And lets face it, for a Big Boy in N scale they are about the only game in town, although I hope not for long. Now all I need is a Y6, and a Challenger and I'll have my three favorites.

Also there is just something about those big articulateds that just gets to me in any scale.

It is a very merry Christmas indeed!

    Don

I also know what hes feeling with that HUGH thing even in N scale! I got plenty of them in HO scale, Yellowstones, Big Boys, Challengers, an allegheny, 2-8-8-2's, 2-8-8-0's, 0-8-8-0's.. etc.. I got a bunch.. I have only one Allegheny tho and its not the new Rivarossi, but is an Arbour model... Nice and all, but all the rest of my articulateds are Rivarossi's, and a Mantua 2-6-6-2 thats in parts.

But being I have these and all I still get that "gut" feeling like he is with his new Big Boy as if i'm just getting my very first one! In all honestly I believe its the fact of its size that makes us feel that way concidering we all have the experience of the medium stam and small steam switchers. Those can be had everyday... But its not everyday you get an articulated! I know the feeling Don.. Been their done that and the last time I felt it won't be the last time I get that same feeling again! :D I'm sure she runs good even for N scale! All 16 drivers powered on it ? If so it'll haul real good..... For N scale anyway... :D I can't see a N scale loco hauling HO scale cars! Snicker, snicker HE HE

you should consider making the tender electrically active on the "Big Boy" . now it is there to follow the engine . making it active really improves it running . please e mail me for further info.
