This will be the beginning of the builds for my power roster.

First up will be a P2K GP30 started as a DRGW unit i stripped still need to get the low nose in paint along with the walkway components.

Shot the primer the went back and shadow painted the body and cab and the grills with tru-color weathered black.

Then went over that with a 50% mixture of Mopac Jenks blue mixed with 50% late EMD demo blue which is what you see in the pics.

Of course i'll have to do touch up work on the cab and rear of the long hood as i forgot to add my Mars lights at each end plus the dynamic brake hatch from Plano Oye Vey.

My units will have low nose headlights and rear Mars lights like the SCL/L&N.

    On to the pics

Looks good from here. Are you going to have any striping on the nose and end of the long hood, another color, or are you leaving it all blue?

It'll get nose/sill stripes because of the screw up in forgetting the detail parts.

It might end up back in the bath just depends if I can color match it all.

    Thanks all.

    Looks good Vince.
Did you use tru-color paints for the blue colors? I cant get that stuff to work for me at all.

Yes try color pretty much all i use anymore.

This blue is 50% Mopac Jenks blue & 50% late EMD demo blue.

Found the ratio for spraying to be about 50/50 acetone thinner lots cheaper than tru color thinner +/- adjustment, there are very few occasions where i have to brush the tip with my finger.

One thing i learned early on is light coats work best as you build it up i use a #3 tip in my pasche Model H that's well over 20 years old and several tips later but works great.

Also found out that shooting at about 20-22 psi works best for me along with spraying closer, the last one because the paint starts drying as soon as it leaves the airbrush.

Easy to work with i really like it my WNW car builds the 2 DW cars were sprayed with NP yellow and boxcar brown both tru color paints.

Hope this helps any questions email me at NewYorkandPennsylvania@gmail.com

Have to add more details I forgot to add some parts pre-paint so it's going to get dipped and re-shot same blue or might go grey scheme.

Hate trying to color match lol.

My other half wants me to model the West Virginia Region so the paint may also change.

Engine is in the dip to get the rest of the part's then into repaint again.

Once decals hit the first one that's my decision hence the title being my power builds.

Okay so the GP30 is in the dip to many parts to add so while it's soaking.

Here's an F7B that's getting the parts before paint this time and is coming along slowly.

As for the unit's # i'm still working on a numbering scheme for them.

    Till next time Enjoy

    Hey Vince.
What MFGR are these shells? What detail parts are you using? I think I see DW parts and some others, but would like to know what you are using.
I want 1 more F9B., Highlighter shells and Athearn chassis, are my personal favorite, but would like to see what you are using.
Always glad to see some actual modeling going on.

Well long story short mate. I use the Stewart which use kato shells, the end doors-details, end lights, roof overflow vent, and winter hatch are DW part's, the lift rings are cal-scale by bowser, the air hoses are vintage old stock DA.

Stewart also makes an F9A/F9B if your interested in using these.

Have an early F3A with 3 side portals aka F2A in the works and soaking in the rinse tank now.

Okay got some more paint on the unit's.

Removed the rear Mars light from the GP30 it'll keep it's cab Mars light though.

The F7B is about midway thru it's paint process but getting there.

The GP30 preshading looks to have disappeared we'll see tomorrow when I take it out into the sun.

    Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's Jonny.

Did a little more work on the F7B got rid of most the skirting on the shell.

Butchered the fuel tank and remodded it to look a little more like the real thing not perfect but works for me.

Also adding a few Hi-Tech parts like the battery boxes, center air tank, fuel tank mounts and doing this with only minor cutting into the metal frame with my dremel for one tank mount as i don't have a mill or grinder.

Parts tacked in place for the pics.

Also still more paint coming but that will be a little ways off as i cleaned my Paasche H3 single action airbrush today and found out the tip not the needle was damaged.

Now i know why it spit at me at times oh well.

Just wondering though i didn't think i pissed off Karma that bad.

Boy was i wrong what was i thinking.

But that isn't stopping me Enjoy my Chaos.

    Vince,
Looks good so far. I'm assuming you're going to do one or more A units or will you be running this one with the E unit you mentioned?
