I undertook another fun little project. I designed, printed, and painted a couple of Harriman-style passenger cars. More cars that I'll need to run in a video next year. Anyway, I hope you all have a Happy New Year!

    Robert,
Nice 3D work on those coaches!(y)
They might go nicely with the Harriman 4-6-0 my dad created.

Thanks guys! I will definitely switch out the old heavyweight coach and baggage car on Cults for these two. They just make more sense than my old designs did.

A few months back I designed a steel reefer car. I didn't like how the print came out, so I decided to make a wood reefer that would be simpler but also easier to print. I like how it came out. I'm hoping to get the files up at my Cults store this week.

I decided to design & print a few 70' heavyweight passenger cars. The prints came out well. However, when I put MT 3-axle trucks on them, they didn't run well. I'm not sure if it was my track or if they require a really wide radius. I had some 2-axle trucks I could use, and they run just fine. I've put them up in my Cults store with a caution about curves.

These are the first two I made. I have one more to show, then I'll have to pause designing and printing. Finances are tight at the moment.

Tighter curves can be difficult for 3 axel tricks. You could just put truck on your track and give it a push to see if it rolls freely through your curves.

Hey, I have one more design & print I wanted to show. It's a 70' heavyweight coach. This will be the last one I make for a while. Money's gotten tight so I can't afford to buy filament right now. Like the others this one is up at Cults 3D.

Great work Robert? Ever thought of making a steam engine body to go over a Marklin chassis?

That would be tricky. The main problem to overcome would be supports. Not only having to actually print a model with supports, but being able to determine what supports would be fine and what would result in a ruined print. Another part of that problem is can the supports be removed without damaging the interior or the exterior (depending on whether it's printed bottom to top or upside-down). I feel like the project would demand quite a few test prints to get it right. That puts the idea out of what I can afford right now. It's a good idea, so maybe one day I could take a run at it.

Looks like you got yourself a GP 7/9 locomotive. I think you’ll really enjoy it as they are great runners.

I made this ATSF dining car a while back but I don't think I posted pictures. I'll have to figure out a way to run it in a video on of these days.
