Yeah, some of those GE's look the same like they share body parts. Little things like a thicker frame could make it weigh more and then be a different model.
John, don't feel too bad...I live in Woodland and didn't know it was there until you posted the question/pics. mg: As far as locomotives that were used at Spreckles, I know a few folks that used to work out there (before it closed in 1997/8)...I'll ask around and see what (if anything) they might know about it. Most of the "locomotive history" (for Spreckles) that I've heard is related to the SVHR 50 tonner (currently stored on the Sierra Northern as YSLR #50) and at least one trackmobile...
Right on Taz! I would love to know anything more I can bout the locos there. Yeah, been railfanning the area for over 10 yrs now and never heard of that one. The real goat getter is the fact that it operated up till 2000! Where the heck was I?!?!
