Here, for all those (especially John Whitby) who love Swiss railways, are some photos of N gauge models of Swiss locos.

They are a Minitrix Ae 6/6 in "Military Green" (this livery is soon to be phased out by SBB (the Swiss state railways)) and a Fleischmann Re 4/4 in the red and grey livery.

Current collection is from the rails or from overhead wires through the pantos.

Thanks Ben. You are a multiple scales person :D Those pics take me back to my several holidays in Switzerland, also to my Swiss HO models, which were run on our club layout at exhibitions. Sadly I took very few photos at the time :(

Good to see the (nicely compressed) :D photos.

Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing many more photos like these.

Thanks Alan and John; I must now decide whether or not to splash out on a Lemaco model!

I managed to work out how to compress the files when saving them after capture from my camera; there is no need to use any software other than that provided with the camera.

Here are the remaining photos of the batch that I took; just a few different angles and closeups.

More good shots Ben. I used to model Swiss HO, the best loks I had were Roco ones. Does Roco make any in N scale?

By the way, those apples are over scale :D

Ben: What kind of photographic set-up are you using for those great close-ups ?
Alan: Roco have made a few Swiss N-scale locos over the years including an SBB Re4/4 IV.......the forerunner in many respects to the Re460's. The prototypes were sold to the Swiss Sudostbahn (SOB) because they were non-standard and Roco still produce the model in SOB advertising liveries. They also produced an Am4/4 which was basically an ex-DB V200 diesel hydraulic but painted in SBB red livery. The prototypes have now either been scrapped or returned to Germany. They were used by the SBB to haul works trains or as passenger train helpers when the current was off. They weren't very popular with the Swiss people because of the noise and exhaust fumes !!!
The latest Roco N-scale release, I think, is a Swiss liveried ex DR electric (can't remember the class) Some of these were bought from Germany by the MTB a few years ago and are often used on open-access trains in the North East of Switzerland.
I always find Roco locos really good value for money and I wish they would produce more Swiss versions.
    Best wishes.
    John.

When we were in Switzerland on holidays, we saw the Re4/4 iv so many times we thought there must be a class of 20 at least! They ran up and down the Rhone valley between Geneva and Brig, also over the Lotchberg.

Here is a pic I took in Brig in July 1991

John, the "photographic set up" as you put it is that I just stick my camera as near as I can to the subject without the picture distorting.

The advantage of the camera in question (Panasonic NV EX3 video camera) is that it stays in focus at extreme close up distances (as long as zoom is not being employed) so these good close up shots can be got without any special preparation or additional equipment.
