Here's some of the scenes/moduals I really liked. While this in no way touches the scope of the show, I know more will be posted as people return home. I like the way this refinery had a REAL flame coming out the stack.
Here's a close-up of the workmen. One thing my wife and I loved was the little hidden details found on several of the moduals.
The roof was off on this Roundhouse, and it had several details inside. The other end had a diesel shop.
They dimmed the lights every so often during the operating session, and the Mill was completely lit up, with different types of lights that looked like the Mill was pouring steel, welding, etc.
Interesting Geeky and I went to the show today. While we were walking past the Precision Models booth, one of the Caboose Hobbies managers was talking to the rep. The rep told him that the F units would be announced next year. He also listed some road names that would not be included in the first run including DRGW. I don't remember the other names listed. Jerry, Nice shots from the show!! Like the one of Alans' Enginge facilities! After seeing my Overland DRGW GP60's he asked if I'd be willing to display them on his modules, which I did! Along with my OMI Jordan spreader! Also notice the spinning blade on the rotary plow? Do NOT let Alan know you have a vibrating Cell Phone! The power to the Rotary is a cell phone vibrator motor, with counter weight removed! Also notice the moving crane on the steel mill display? That was an Incredible module set, as is the DisneyLand mnodule set! And the trestle repair is part of the BMRC FoamRail group of which I am a member of! But not taking pat withmodules as I had other work I was involved in. Just glad that the last 4 days has finally ended! I'm beat! Will check my pics and see what I can add to the list.
A bit late into this thread, but... I've seen the posts about the UP shield being upside down... (OK by me, the only time I'd consider a Challenger is if I did a 'what if' CNJ right after WWII, when, reportedly, they were considered. Instead they got a delightful diesel mix of Baldwins, FMs, EMDs, ALCOs instead.) The real problem is it looks like a Lionel. What is all that air under the boiler/firebox??? Don't tell me it is needed for mechanical reasons. The Key Challengers and Big Boys looked right. Bob in IDaho
great time Hello every one. Had a great time at the show. I was there with Craig Martyn of BLMA. Got to see a lot of great modules, and great models. Bought a few trains(shhhhhhh its a secret).Met some great people. Thanks for the great dinner William, and thanks for the good times chuck and jerry. oh, and jerry thanks for the Alabama U turn! That was cool. Oh, and by the way, I won the modeling contest for the freight car entry!. I didn't even know it until Cory told me. That was cool since I wasn't going to enter it in the first place. I had lots of fun. Hope to do it again soon.
Congratulations Oscar on the award! It was well deserved as that was a beautifully done model! It was great getting to meet you. I look forward to the next time......and YOUR driving. (Remember, I am originally from CA!)
Kato & News Nothing gets announced in advance anymore. Save lots of $$$$ and horde it so that you have it available as all new releases will be announced with only 5-6 weeks notice. Dee was able to say that some technical glitches has delayed any announcement of a new passenger train even further down the road than they planned.
Jerry, in your traction photo, was the wire "hot", or just for looks? I'm interested if reliable hot-wire traction can be done in N. I know of the N-Cat group, but I don't hear much about them lately, which leads me to believe that it's not all that successful.....?
From what I saw, when looking at it, the overhead was "hot". Was fun watching collector moving up and down with catenary wire(s)! Think it was a small piece of the Ncat division.
Hope to unload a few pics from the DANS modules shortly. In the meantime, here's a couple of items given to me by Alan, of the DANS group: FRA Inspection report on Rio Grande SW1000 #148 And the backside of same: With a question for Jerry, or any other railroader on the board: I've heard that a person and/or railroad can get into a heap of trouble if these inspection reports are missing from locomotive if sold etc..?? Is this true, and what can happen if removed?
