For those who have not attended an N Scale Convention, the manufacturers do not have any displays set up before the Swap-A-Rama on Friday. However, we will be touring the Micro-Trains factory today, so perhaps some photos will show up later this evening. Neal Carnaby (Neal's N-Gauging Trains) did show me some pre-productions examples of four 1930s vintage vehichles. He is coming out with two sedans and two coupes. He also had examples of a couple of motorcycles. Carter P.S. We miss you Jerry and Mike, and hope to see you next year in Milwaukee!
I'm in line for the MTL tour in 10 minutes, but I seen John Sing go in 20 minutes ago, so maybe he will get pictures. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I wanted to go, but there was no way in h*## that I would be able to convince the newly wed wife to let me bail out of the honeymoon early to go to the convention.
Yes, I can see that even suggesting the idea would have moved you from the category of "Newly Wed" to "Newly Dead"....... Kevin
Ryan, You have to lay the law down early, set them straight right off the bat, let them know who wears the pants !! OK, It felt good to type out, anyway. I wish I did, 35 years ago !! Congrats on the addition to the consist!
Mike & Jerry, thanks for the well wishes, glad to be "here". Very nice week, so far. Good weather. Mtl tour was very impressive and worth it. Very few clinics (maybe a total of 5). 1 large z scale layout & 1 scale n scale layout, no n-trak presence. Model contest... Wow! I have an SP bay window entered, but there is stiff competition in almost all categories. "Swaparama" was well attended, still ALOT of Mtl cars with "collector" prices on them. Not my cup of tea. I'm an operator, so my rolling stock and locos (brass included) are run. That said, there were a few good deals to be found. As an aside, had the pleasure to fly with John Sing from SF to Medford. Once at the airport, we all rode together to the Red Lion. I'm sure he was snapping PLENTY of pics while here. Looking forward to Milwaukee next year.....
Jerry, We missed you and Kimberly, and Nanci says "Hi" back at you. And for some convention news, the jet boat ride on the Rogue River was fantastic! Oh, and the pre-production samples of the Atlas 89-foot flat cars looked great. DM Toys had a table at the convention, and Daniel had some really cool European vehicle models for sale, including the Lemke Volkswagen T2 Westfalia campers. Also, the paint jobs on the 45-foot trailers were awesome. The hinges and bars on the doors are now "painted" to give them a metallic look. The Atlas Ford Explorers in railroad paint schemes were impressive, as well as the coil cars. My table was next to the Atlas table, and that's about all I got a really good look at. Carter
Kevin- That is definitely the truth! LOL. I did tell her about it though and told her I couldn't even suggest it and be serious about as I know what she would say. She told me that she would be okay with me going anytime other than on our honeymoon. Ryan
Thanks Greg, She does know that I am a train-a-holic! LOL She thinks it is great that I have a hobby that I am interested in so much as well as getting my son involved too. And she is also totally okay with me going on weekend trips to conventions/shows as long as I talk to her about it first. Ryan
Ryan, Bring your bride with you next time. The National N Scale Convention is for the whole family! There are a lot of fun things to do in addition to the train activities. Carter
