I've decided to make an accurate BNSF SD70ACe... you can see the rear end on my blog (click the link below).
Right now my bench is piled high with assorted junk and other bedroom stuff as my train room is also my bedroom.
Definately good work; I think, from my observations, that good operating empties (either hoppers or gons) for coal trains are rare birds. Should make for an interesting visual change of pace.
Thanks guys! Yep, I built a master from scratch and poured a mold. High reject rate, but they look and work good.
Unfortunately I don't have a computer I am doing this through my tablet and phone right now and they won't allow me to post pictures.ARRRGH!!! BUT on happier news, I have recently completed the main mill building for my grist mill complex it is completely scratch built and based on the old Garrard mill near were I live. It is part of an experiment whether with the smaller size of n scale I need to cut out windows and doors or if I can just paint them on either way its going to look awesome when done and later I'm going to start on a freight house as the other half of the experiment. Both of the models main structure are going to be built out of poster board which with my mill building has worked out well. If you want to see a prototype pic type in old Garrard mill on your preferred search engine. But The trick with poster board is to keep it from bending and getting wet.
Well it has been about 5 years since I've posted any work. I've been working on projects for the 20.3 scale outdoor railroad. Anyway this week I have been working on the n-scale layout. I bought a Modern Roundhouse kit with 2 add on kits. I don't like how close to the turntabe it sits, so I drew up a new base in sketchup and and started printing the first of two bases. I built this 300mm cube printer this past spring and I also have 2, 200mm cube printers for smaller stuff. Rodney
Here's what's on my list.. The WHITESIDE HOTEL MAPLE SPRINGS,NY, in Chautauqua County which my aunt Norma once owned. Tom
