Still resurrecting my six bay Chessie covered hopper. Delaware car body, MT 1025 couplers, and Accumate trucks. I plan to change to metal wheelsets. Check out that trip pin on the adjacent car.
FeemoN module Well I committed a few weeks ago to building a left hand crossover to go with my Colton bridge scene but was called away from home for a week. Then on Saturday as I started working on the module my left eye started to hurt. Drats!! Pink eye. Even after the doctors visit and prescription my vision is still blurry and the pain still distracts me so I am reluctant to work on the module. So if I heal up soon I will have a few evenings to transform the module from its raw state(attached) to something that would go with this, I have a feeling this module will end up as one of those the club can refer to as to the super structure under our scenery.arghh:
Just finished adding a Bachmann Spectrum slope-back tender on to an Atlas 0-4-0 and while I was at it I added a DCC decoder just for fun. It worked great, just using the pick-up from the tender. Now there are 2 more units waiting. Fred
Nice Module I sure don't think this module should be part of the static display. Everyone should click on your photo to see several more views of the Fremo modules. They are very nice!
Thanks for the kind words Flash. The new module may not be sceniced the way I want for the show but it will be operational.
Yes. I planned to have it ready to go and the bridge module modified to match the track profile. I currently have a severe eye problem and am having trouble working on the modules, but will have them at the show. We have two double track modules with RH crossovers so the LH will be helpful. I tried to cut the fascia and end plate but goofed it up a bit. Thankfully I have a belt sander to help make it all look better. I have built the turnout controls and added the first layer of goop. Needles to say I am not going to work tomorrow, but do have a doctors note so I should get paid for the Holiday. If my eye does not start showing some improvement I will be at the show disguised as a pirate.:tb-tongue::thumbs_down: I must share that it gets very interesting when we(the IP group) have a passing in these double track modules. Look for the guy jumping up and down from excitement and thats me. Man I love this stuff. The only drawback is the different eras that are running simultaneously. Hope to see you there Art, along with many other members.
Finally got around to painting and decaling the Milwaukee Road E7 I started many months ago. She's ready to join the motive power fleet pulling Hiawatha's on the miNi ModUTrak layout. We will be exhibiting the layout at the National Train show next weekend at the NMRA 75th convention in Milwaukee. Our layout has expanded and much scenery work has been done. (mostly in the past couple of weeks!) Hope to see all of you there.
Right now all modeling work has stopped so I can concentrate on designing and building the prototype for a mobile rack for our Ntrak club modules. We decided that since none of us were getting any younger we wanted to eliminate as much carrying of modules and equipment as we can. Our mobile racks will allow us to wheel the modules in the racks off our trailer and to the place we set are to set up. Usually this is some distance from the off load point. Our trailer is a 5' wide X 5' foot high X 14' long. We will be able to haul six mobile racks each containing 5 four foot modules.
I've been detailing my current favorite SD40-2 to match the prototype. I'm pretty happy. The sound decoder (MRC 1806) works very well too. All in all a fun runner.
Today, I have made this 'carcards/waybills/Digitraxpanel/throttleholder/coffeecupholder-unit'. I had some leftover plywood. OK, I am not a carpenter, so it's not as neat as it should be, but I think I have succeeded in building a handy thing for exhibitions: I can now put this unit on the front of my modules and will be able to do some paperwork, drink some coffee, and put my throttle somewhere.
Module Control Panel Wow! This thread sure got pushed back fast! Surely there is more going on than is being posted . To bring this thread back up front, I'll post a small contribution of the reversible control panel I've been working on for my NTrak module set. If used from the front, the track layout looks one way, but if the control panel is accessed from the rear of the module, the track layout is reversed. Reversal of the panel section only takes a few seconds w/o tools. NCDaveD
Well its not neccesarily on my workbench (cause one isnt built yet), but I have a New In Box Bachmann Explorer N scale trains set. its been ran a few times, but for the most part its still new in box.

A T-Trak module having its scenery finished. Several building kits for another module. And a general m-e-s-s. Boxcab E50
I'm working on my tank cars. I added a Con-Cor 56' tank to the list. This one has been upgraded with GMM parts and new saddles made from styrene. I have also been working on a fleet of X72s. Here are the first two: Most of the decals are on, but I have not cleaned up the paint yet. After cleanup, the models will be sealed, and weathered.
I'm trying to attach photos which I have not done in so long that I find difficult. A depot (Blair kit) in NMC colors. A tunnel portal (scratchbuilt). A rotary snowplow (Tichy) with leased tender (courtesy of Pete Nolan). A WP boxcar (Atlas: roofwalk shaved, body painted, decaled, and weathered). A work train (Tichy kits) that still needs decals and weathering. And yes, that track really does need ballast! Okay, well I see none of the attached photos, even though they show as attached, came through. I'll try again some other day.
