Does just an N scale train layout count??? Cause thats in the planning stages (the PAPER planning stages that is) Money is kind of tight, sooooooo im "trying" to sell the HO scale stuff I dont use anymore, to help me a little.
Perhaps the better question: what ISN'T on (or under) my workbench (besides an Atlas Shay ) A five-minute search for the tweezers that were right in front of me prompted a massive cleaning & organizing effort. Problem is the pict above could be the "before" or "after" It all makes sense somehow... [actually, it's very clean and organized right now. Just in time to become a mess of bridge, pier and retaining wall parts!]
Milwaukee Road Milwaukee Road 9528 was a double door 40' ribside boxcar. Some of these were rebuild for specilize service. The doors were remove, holes cut in the roof and wood braces added to create a 'Veneer Car'. This veneer was shipped to facilities to make plywood. This is a Kadee boxcar...............
I have a C&O 4 room dwelling that I am scratch building. After that one is done, a 5 room dwelling then a standard station. all scratch built using evergreen styrene.
OK so you have me just about drooling over your cars!! The earlier set you showed was fantastic as well! If you do decide to mold off some more of those, keep me in mind- I would love an example of every single car you've shown so far! I have chrome in my veins and trains on the brain. I'd die of a heart attack right here and now if you showed me an N scale '57/58/59 Plymouth..... Keep up the awesome work!! OH and P.S. My workbench has been busy as have I... show&tell soon!
The work on the GN P1 and P2 Mountains has finally begun. Most of the P-2 modifications to the Bmann unit are in the smokebox and boilertop area. While the P1 requires a new boiler so a bash of the Minitrix and Bmann shells to get that. Then another round of work to get the unique headlight and a few other details.
Hitches galore Spent the better part of today working this set of hitches for a TOFC project. Last time I assembled these hitches, I was able to get it down to less the 15 minutes each. I dont even want to think how long each one took. I lost my groove on these, 15 down, 30 more to go......
Decaling Three weeks of work at the model bench has resulted in completion of decal application for several projects: a CN Piggyback 40 foot van trailer, eight UNPX (Procor Ltd.) rotary gondolas, and BCR Remote Control Car RCC 2: The CN van trailer and the BCR remote control car were completed with Microscale Decals. The UNPX gondolas were completed with limited run ALPS decals supplemented with ACI plates and Consolidated Stencils from Microscale Decals. Microscale trim film was used for the yellow panels and the white backgrounds behind the Flying 'P' logograms. Each of these cars has between 63 and 75 individual decals depending on the scheme. Needless to say, I am glad to have them done! These models now require some minor paint touch-ups, weathering, and a final seal coat, and they will then be ready for service on the layout. My attention will now turn to a pair of locomotives awaiting their final detail parts prior to painting. Tim
Marty: I was interested to see your model as the Pacific Great Eastern Railway undertook a very similar conversion on at least two of its 4001-4072 series boxcars. The doors were removed and two vertical stakes fitted for veneer service. Tim
Last night I built another copy of V&T Hay Boxcar #1011. (At first I thought it would be #1013, but then I realized 1013 has a different roof than 1011, so maybe it will just become fictional 1012. ) Today I bought a new can of ruddy brown primer which is itself a pretty darn close match to the 1880's paint. I'll get pictures up when I get them.
Pictures! Drilling holes for the grab irons. Paint Left to right; Fictional #1012, #1011, #1005. Making an appearance on Thunder Ridge behind #13 "Empire".
Ummmmmmm.....Mark? :tb-wacky: Pstttttttttttttttttt....you forgot the stirrups :tb-tongue::tb-tongue: .
*Chalk one up for "The BIG...O L D Guy" LMAO :thumbs_up::tb-cool: **Where are them &#@!%%$& NMRA Ninjas when ya need em huh? :tb-biggrin: *** As awesome as your scratchbuilding skills are...its still nice to know you are still human :tb-wink: .
Well with 7 inches of snow on the ground, more called for tomorrow and possible Saturday and the power out for 14 hours, huddled down with the mad monks of the Zendo and decide to develop a single motorized truck. The one axle and wheels can be deleted on this three axle truck. Whole thing measures a total of 11 N scale feet high measured from the wheel flanges up which means it can fit inside a boxcar. Working out how to fully restrain the motor. Everything is scrap parts from the parts bin.
John, Great idea! Maybe I'll try it for my D trucks from the DD40AX--if I can find any axles that are not cracked!
