Anyone attending the show (which opens Thursday)? Anyone expect any announcements? I suspect anything really big for July from Atlas would be delayed until the show? Anyone here anything about that? C40-8 and C40-8W maybe???
C-40-8 due to ship this month according to one e-mail I received today. BAC85051 UNDEC DASH 8-40C BAC85052 UP DASH 8-40C BAC85054 NS DASH 8-40C BAC85056 CR DASH 8-40C BAC85058 CSX DASH 8-40C BAC85063 CNW DASH 8-40C
I saw the ATlas 2004-5 catalogue at the LHS today, and it has nothing of the C40-8. The lineup for the next year seems to be repaints on the Geep and SD series.....plus some repaints on cabeese and the wood sheath boxcars.
Yeah, I am looking forward to any reports from the show. I'd hope we have someone around here that is planning on attending... and reporting to all of us the upcoming new stuff!
Rossford Yard - repaints on the SDs??? Do you mean the SD50/60's? re: Show - I seriously considered using some of my 400k + United Frequent Flyer miles to do something stupid like fly out to the show in the early AM and then return that night, but unfortunately there is no such schedule from here to there that would work. The one time I did manage to attend the show, it was definitely worth it, even though I only had about 4 hours in the middle of some marathon trip.
If I were one of the major manufacturers I would wait till Chantilly where everybody will be N-Scale and you get the entire news cycle. Seattle, while it will have many N-Scalers is not going to be the N-Scale show this year. Chantilly already has 3 full hotels and the 4th is near full by now.
Northwest Oregon, and western Washington are hotbeds of N scale activity. The two N magazines come from Seattle suburbs. However, If I were a manufacturer, I'd indeed be at the N scale specific event. The NMRA Seattle gathering is general model railroading. All scales. While there will be plenty of N scalers at NMRA, Chantilly would seem to be the better investment. Boxcab E50
Since most of the MFG's are multi scale, from their perspective, would it not be better just to announce products at a multi scale show? The National is the traditional venue for this, although last year's Toronto show was messed up because of the SARS scare.....
I am sure we will have plenty of reports and photo's of new items that are being released at the National Show this weekend.
Though not an N scale specific show, this weekend's show is a major one as far as the industry is concerned. I would expect to see some pretty interesting stuff unveiled. Erik W
I'm guessing this was posted by the E.W. that is employed by IMRC and this is a t-in-c hint. Maybe F3's in CB&Q to be delivered before the Kato ones?
I'm guessing the same thing... Or maybe it's wishful thinking (Atlas C40-8's, Intermountain 19k tank cars and 60' flatcars, etc....)
Well usually Friday is the day that the new product announcements are made so I am bumping up the topic. Seattle time is four hours later than East coast time so if anny announcements are made it will likely be not until late in the afternoon or early evening. Alowing for time to run and post it may not be until late in the evening East coast time before we get any word.
No details, but reports are filtering in that Athearn has made a number of announcements at the show (what I heard was HO scale so far)
So...if it is HO, that portends well for a future N scale release? I think so. What HO was announced?
An SD45T-2 - which of course is coming from IM in N-scale. I think the things to look for at the show are Athearn's SD70's and possible new freight cars and vehicles; IM's new freight cars; Atlas (I won't mention again what I am hoping to see from them sometime soon); MicroTrains - perhaps showing some of the autoracks and the new sand/aggregate hoppers; the Red Caboose autorack.... On another note, it will be interesting to see if there is an annoumcement or demo from Train Artisans on their followon to the cancelled Train Simulator from Microsoft.
Anyone catch this in the Email from the show by Walthers? From Intermountain Electro-Motive Division F3 A and B units and sound systems for EMD F units
