Have a big truck that needs maintenance or repair?

Stop in at the Highland truck stop and get a meal or some rest while waiting on the guys in the maintenance shop to get your truck back on the road.

More about the truck stop and associated buildings ( HERE ) or ( HERE ).

You need a NAPA parts store too. They gotta get those parts somewhere too! (BTW, I work at a NAPA store, it's mind boggling how many heavy truck parts we stock)...

Nice work! Need a huge parking lot full of rigs, and a multi-island filling station too.

The NAPA store is near me, beside the bicycles, and there's several repair stations. My biggest problem is that they don't have the simple parts I need. Two years ago they became obsolete.

Nice, even with the typical front wall signage!

I actually may, I bought three 3d printed day cabs to dress up in Old Dominion colors. Luckily I have easy access to prototypes for photos, weathering, and decal placement.

I worked in parts for a commercial heavy truck shop for almost 2yrs after college, they had converted a closed-down mail sorting facility into a shop, think the service floor was 113k sq ft, had 35 or 40 lifts. Freaking HUGE. Getting let go from that place is up there with the best things that ever happened to me :ROFLMAO: but YES! Layouts need trucks, and trucks need repair shops (and parts shops!) That would be a totally fun scene to do on a non-ludicrous, normal scale lol

Another way to bring this one up to date is to add commercial metal siding, the vertical stuff.

I'm in the 50s-60's time period so it will work for me as is. I did add the brick to the front (took an hour or so) and thought about doing it all in block but I really need to get back to the layout.

Been messing with the truck stop and all of its options for the last two weeks or so and generated over 1500 files as I save often when designing a print. Need to save this design work for when I'm stuck in Phoenix or can't work in the shop any longer :(. I'll still get the rest of the truck stop files up (untested like this structure -don't like that) so there goes another hour or two just getting that done.

I have a feeling that a number of people who go to places like thingiverse and grab items have no idea how much time can go into designing them and taking the time to post them. I probably shouldn't say this but it is discouraging when you can see something has been downloaded over 100 times and maybe 3-4 people took the time to even hit the like button.

oh i like your buildings. very nice indeed . Thank you for sharing.
Sumner don't get discouraged , you do mighty fine work and your willingness to share this work is just grand. I for one know exactly how much work it takes to get those files ready , the planning the time it takes ect ect.
maybe those people whom down load them files don't care , but sir i for one am very very grateful for people like your self whom take the time to share something you obvious love doing. You are a great contributor to the n scale world. weather those people and others see this or not.
So ill say THANK YOU for the hard work that you have done and THANK YOU for sharing this HARD work with your fellow N Scaler's.

Thanks Sid and I've been guilty of not always giving some credit myself so guilty also. I'm trying to do better. Actually you guys on here and N Scale net do a good job of thanking contributors. I've been posting on another board, not to be named, where to get even a little recognition for contributing is all but non-existent.

I can post something like this there and get a hundred views and get one thumbs up. What I don't understand though is I'll post another item and the same will happen. If they don't like what I'm posting fine, but then why keep looking? Makes little sense to me but it seems there they feel 'likes' and 'thanks' are to be handed out very sparingly. OK that is fine with me I don't have to post there any more.

OK, no more soapbox stuff and I'm really happy to be part of the group here and have been from the start. It is a great site and great bunch of modelers.
