    To whom it may concern:
I teach a class on electricity / electronics at Berthoud High School. Berthoud High School is a small four year public high school located north of Denver at Berthoud Colorado.

I believe when the student learns using real world hands on learning experiences the student learns quicker and retains more of what they learned.

With this philosophy in mind I have and idea of using HO trains as a real world and hands on learning experience. Everything from basic DC
to digital control to art to math can be experienced using trains. HO was selected because of size and availability.

An additional off shoot to this experience is the students will be using something they can carry into their adult life as a hobby.

I need your assistance in getting this project up and running. I need trains, track, switches, and other electricity power accessories
I do not have the necessary funds to purchase the equipment therefore I must rely upon donations.

If you can assist me in this project please contact me via e-mail at clarkj@thompson.k12.co.us

The students and I are looking forward to your favorable reply.

    Sincerely

    John I. Clark
    Instructor

jclark and students, I posted your request here on the BNSF Forum so you may get added exposure for your project.

Berthoud, Colorado is one of my old stomping grounds, having been over Berthoud Pass many times. The "Burlington Northern" tracks run through town, so trains have always been a part of his student's lives.

Let's all get behind these students and help give them a start in life![IMG]

Anything you send, pack well, especially engines, so they arrive undamaged, to:

John, I am so sorry but I am unable to help by donating items for your class. But you are close to Golden CO right? if you are you could go to the Colorado Railroad Museum. There you could show the real thing....and they might be able to help with getting a hold of a model for demonstration purposes. Just a thought, IF i COME UP WITH ANY MORE I'll let you know.

Say John, it's BN Again, if you wanted, not just show them, but you could have them join up here and talk to some of the old railroaders and young ones to, we'd be glad to help..AS Watash said, lets get behind these kids and maybe we'll see some new railfans in the making!
