I am trying to upgrade my Dummy fleet in ATSF. I am wanting to get either a Athearn U33c or SD40-2 in Yellow Warbonett livery. However, I can't seem to find a product number for these. Most seem to be the ATSF y/b freight w/o the bonett. Can anybody help me out here. I have Walthers catalogue, but it is not clear as to which is which. If any of you have some of these could you help me get a product # or description please.

    Thanks! [IMG] [IMG]

    The photos you show are of a SD40-2 and a C30-7 (not a U33C)

Athearn has just released the SD40-2 in several upgraded versions, including a 'snoot' nose version.

Athearn has never made a C30-7 (Atlas has made them). Also, as far as I know, Athearn has never made the U33C in a yellow warbonnet.

    I hope this helps.

The Athearn U30C or U33C is a very old model. The shell was designed before thin motors were available (or inexpensive) and the hood is noticeable too wide. It comes with a thin motor now, but the hood is still too wide. This may not be a big deal to you, or it may be - I just think it's worth noting. If you are really adventurous, the hood can be thinned.

I think Atlas had a U30C or U33C as well that had a scale width hood. It was (of course) a limited edition :rolleyes:so you may have to search around for it.

Thanks for the replies. I knew the dash 7 wasn't a U33C, but was just trying to show the body style and paint livery that I wanted.

I really wasn't thinking about the inaccuracy of the Uboats from Athearn, but you bring up a good point. It probably would bother me in the end.

With that said, any other suggestions on how to get a 3 truck UBoat dummy in the Yellow Bonnet scheme? Railpower Products? Anything else?

    Thanks again

Unfortunately, no. The only U33C's on the market are the too-wide Athearns, and the very nice Atlas U33C...much too nice to make a dummy out of it, IMHO! Only GE's RPP has made are the C32-8, C30-7, B40-8, B23-7, C40-8W, and C44-9W.
