I have made my own paint scheme for my "Needle Eye" Rail Road's GP-35 locomotive. It's painted with an airbrush. The light color is Pale Yellow and the decals are from diferent Microscale vater decals. It is gone need some more work like a layer off "gloss"? paint and some weathering. And maybe some more details. And I now think that I may have found a paint scheme that I will be happy with for my NERR in the future. And that I can reproduce without too much hassle every time.
Avesome! I think you need a layer of "dull" not "gloss". It look`s wery nice... Hmmmm, maby a Plentywood RR gp for me? No, it will be to much alike PRR :-(
That's cool Torsja, I really like this paint scheme. It looks a little bit like the CHEHALIS WESTERN GP 35 that will be released by MTL on May.
Thanks Jürg. I did not realize or noticed that new MTL release before you pointed it out for me. I just rely like black and yellow together. And off course Henrik I did mean "dull" coat and not "gloss" my mind just froze for a second.
A couple off more pictures after applying a cote off Dull paint and some heavy weathering. The trucks are still brand new though.
Nice! By the way Torsja - these are some of the best photos I have ever seen, truly magazine quality. What make/model of camera do you use and what settings? Amazing.
Great work Torjsa! Is it in order to give a bad shape appearance you removed the front windshield and rear number board? Dominique
Thanks Kurt. Your right it's hard not to do too much. And the photo actually shows more weathering then it looks like in RL. Graves. My camera is an old HP Photosmart 4.1Mpix. Camera. Sett on macropicture and max. "F" setting (11.3 on my camera) This gives depth to the picture with longer exposure time depending on the light source. And you then have to use self timer and a tripod. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=75971 No Dominique I just haven't got around to do it yet. It should have the details set from BLMA Models. But I'll se what I do later on.
I like the paint scheme! But then NYS&W yellowjackets are one of my favorites. ;-) The weathering and the photos look great, too. Randy
Sorry I missed this topic earlier. Looks great Torsja! As always very very fine work. By the way, how did you make the number boards?
The number board in front are just tiny decal from a H0 Microscale water decal set. It had just the right combination off 003 in one off its long number series. And the other lettering is also from a Microscale sheet only with letters and numbers in different sizes, cut one by one.
This is on my workbench at the moment. It's supposed to represent a 36' wooden boxcar. Hopefully a modern enough type that could be used with the GP-35 ? I did not find any good drawing on the internet from every angel. So I guest on some off the details that I did not se on the picture. The first prototype is entirely made out off styrene sheets and strips from Evergreen. Made the moulds in two peaces, body and roof, so that the body is only half full with resin for weight and balance. They become a little out off line with the truck holes, but they runs well behind my GP so far Will make a couple off more cars and then paint them in my NERR colours. I wonder how they will look in the end?
And now the boxcars are painted in the "NERR" scheme so that my GP-35 has some cars and a caboose to drag around on the next train show this weekend here in Norway. PS: They are not fully weathered yet.
