Extra 3245 lopes through town on a reefer block on the Nevada Western. Returning later headed for home rails Xtra SP 3245 slowly passes the crowded depot platform.

    Greg-

Is this your equipment? Or, what's the story?

    Ken,

The layout belongs to a friend, John Tyson. It's a freelance desert railroad set in 1946 and it shares track with the Southern Pacific. John does a great job on the scenery and buildings. The layout was built with Atlas O flex track and their switches. I get trackage rights on it so my few pieces of O get exercise once in a while.

That name seems like it could be familiar. Have I heard, or read it somewhere?

    Ken,

John has been working on one version or another for several yrs. Here is an old thread that might be why it sounds familiar.

Your friend's layout is very nice looking, and you've done a great job weathering your O scale loco.

That engine is John's, but yes a beautiful job weathering. John has a good eye for scenery. I raise John's dander when I run my equipment since I model WP in 1970. :D When I do that the mutual ribbing gets pretty heavy. :D

    Cheers,
    Greg

Awesome stuff...thanks for sharing it. I just hope I have 1/2 that amount of talent when time comes to build the permanent layout...
