There is really no comparison. The costs of doing business and getting a product into the hands of consumers over there are quite different from the USA. These items under discussion will push UK prices even higher, so UK consumers will still be paying significantly more.
I ordered one of these recently and paid $220 with sound. I guess as i enter into Ho i'd rather pay more and get better details and DCC.

With local sales tax a sneeze away from 10% a DCC & sound Genesis set me back $227 absolutely worth it(for me, since my goal was to purchase just one unit), i don't have to cobble on it, dremel out the shell, grind the frame, tap the frame, detail those pesky little wires, etc.. my swap meet fleet gets that treatment. If a local brick & mortar hobby shop dealer wants a sale, he comes down significantly from MSRP making the deal all the more attractive.
