Ok I know Aristocraft is gone, but I acquired a NIB FA-1 and FB-1 painted for Milwaukee Road that dates back to 1991. These were purchased originally by a US Navy officer and I don’t think he ever did more than open the box to look at the locomotives. The plastic wrap was tightly wrapped around each piece and it looked like it was from the factory. When I took them out for pictures it had that “new train smell” to them. Not a single mark on the wheels and the brass is bright and shiny still. Now while they look beautiful as they sit, I bought them to run them. I have 4 heavyweight cars to pull around my future garden scenic railroad.

So I know there are no drop in DCC/Radio systems for this old of a locomotive but I do want battery power and radio control. These have motors in each truck, and by the looks of it they are 540 sized motors. What would be a good system for these locomotives?

The cars I am most likely going to battery power and convert to LED lighting, I will worry about that all later.

I see G Scale diesel power at shows and am awestruck at their size and detail. Once you start looking at things closely, it's hard to pull yourself away. Yep, Massey, that is really neat stuff there.
