    Hi all,

My name is Ben and I live in Columbus, OH with my fiancee, Beth and shared custody of my 3 year old daughter Mallory. I'm an avid fisherman and outdoors person who also loves trains.

My grandfather was a steam engineer for C&O for many years therefore the trains are in my blood. I also collect Chessie memorabilia that I find interesting. I guess you could call it discerned collecting!

When I was young my father and I always planned on making a train table for HO but this just never came about. When he passed I inherited his and my HO stock, engines and track but I since I live in a half of a rental Craftsmen home I chose to go with N-Scale because of the size advantage. I'll be posting over in the N-Scale benchwork section for some help in a little bit!

    Thanks for the warm welcome,

    Ben

Great to have the connection to your late father that way. If you're going to N scale, have you ever seen any of the work by Bernard Kempinski? Quite an active C&O N scaler from Virginia (I believe) and well published. Could certainly be an inspiration! Good luck to you

    Wewlcome to TrainBoard!

I've been following your benchwork topic. It should prove quite interesting to see what you will design.

Hi Ben, welcome to the TrainBoard, glad to have you on board in spite of your connection with the C&O, that "southern" railroad...when compared to the B&M. LOL

Ben, I would like to extend an invitation for you to visit Central Ohio N-trak on some Tuesday, but, not Dec 11th as that is our off site Christmas Party. We meet from 6:30 pm until around 9 pm. Many of us model the C&O/B&O/Chessie/CSX. We are located at 3840 N. High St., Columbus, OH (Clintonville area), enter in rear (house converted into offices faces Richards Rd). You could also visit with us on Saturday, 12-8-12 at the Buckeye Train Show, Ohio Expo Center, Lausche Bldg. Show times 10 am until 4 pm. Hope to meet you soon, Craig secretary for the club
PS some of the other members model the dark side NS, dont let that bother you I don't.

Thanks Craig! I'm pretty sure that we'll be at the show on Saturday. The funny thing is that we just live off of West California down near Nancy's Restaurant. Will you be there all day Saturday?

If I had a question on what the C&O blue paint color was where should I post it? I'd like to paint my bench work in that color.

Still trying to figure out what goes in what forum!

    Thanks,

    Ben

The Inspection Pit would certainly be appropriate, also the forum for your scale. Perhaps even Fallen Flags so some of the folks with more 1:1 interest would notice - there are a lot of folks here with great historical references.
