from ken pattenson sent me this what could it be??????????? I just shot the New Bachmann XXXX that will be announced at the nationals. It has sound and is N scale.
My thought that if the Bmann follows the trend with steam it will be a heavy 2-10-2. Considering that they first did the light Mountain followed by the heavy Mountain and they have had the light 2-10-2 out for some time it would be about time for a heavy. Or long overdue a complete reworked 4-8-4 with new shell and finally tender pick-up most likely with dual mode decoder for DCC and sound. Diesel I would not even hazard a guess.
I bet a lot of people would crap their pants if it were a K4 or better yet a M1. Didn't Concor do the heavy 2-10-2?
There's a special place in the "afterlife" reserved for those who send out "I know something you don't know" messages - but I can't tell you about it.
I have encouraged them to release a new dcc with sound version of the 2-8-0 in n-scale. I had dcc decoders with sound installed in two of mine from the early Spectrum run. They are my favorite steam locomotives. Every one who has seen the YouTube videos liked them and wanted to know more.
John, my guess is doing their current 2-10-2 with sound included would be rather simple as they already have the dual mode dc/dcc version. Seems though that certain road names have not sold very well. In fact, B'mann offered me a 2-10-2 as replacement for another locomotive I returned under warranty for repair. I accepted it. Later they offered me a second one, but by then I had 4 or 5.
In terms of speculation the door is wide open since the Bmann tends to come out with N scale versions of what has been around in HO scale for awhile. And that speculation opens the door for a Heisler or a Class B Climax. But I will still stick with my original speculative guess of the heavy 2-10-2 and few feet longer than the light version, with larger drivers, and their dual mode decoder with sound. And yes Concor did one many years ago that some folks considered to be out of scale for it's size. It has long been out of production, lacks any parts support, plus has a mechanism that is out of date by todays standards. Some can occasionally be found on that auction site. As far as diesel I wont even hazard a guess.
John, I have very little interested in diesel. My primary interest is steam and thus I would like to see more smaller steam: 2-8-0, 2-8-2, etc. versus all the larger ones they have done. I do have 2 of their EM-1s because I am a B&O fan, and 2 of the 2-8-4s which I relettered for B&O as well as some 2-10-2s which I relettered for B&O. You can see I am NOT a rivet counter.
So on what date is this announcement supposed to come out? How much more time do we have the fun of speculating on this? Can the folks who just deplore anything with the name Bachmann on it start trashing it now? And lest we forget and leave out the rivet counters can they start polishing up the magnifying glasses and preparing statements to the fact that they missed 2 rivets out of 10,000.4 rivets.
The Concor 2-10-2 was panned when it came out by, who else, the rivet counters. But it looked good and was operationally decent. Much better than some of the offerings from Model Power. It was a heavy drag engine and the model lived up to the prototype's reputation. I got one and like it.
Fibre One cereal, my friend. Half a cup each day and it will clear the way. Think of it as a rotary snow plow for the colon.
Well, that's a mental image I can't unsee! But, oatmeal, fiber one, etc. are actually in my diet. Also eating flax muffins. Not bad and great fiber. And, MR, NSR, etc. get read you know where........
