Hi All, It's always a fun day to receive some new train stuff in the mail. I was excited that my little Southern Rail Caboose arrived today, so I thought I'd share a quick picture. Best, Ray
If Zelatory would ever produce more of they're conversion, this would be a piece of cake. I've done 6 Marklin cabooses so far, really easy!
While they add the battery box detail, the relocation isn't too hard. Pullout the märklin truck (just pull it off, it has a mushroom head that will pop out). Shave off the 'bump' where the märklin bolster was. Place your MTL or AZL truck similar to Kurt's picture (He used body mounts but truck center will be virtually the same). I you body mount the coupler, you can cut the plastic under the porch and get another .1mm lower body (placing the top of the coupler up against the metal porch). Add a spacer to the underframe so the coupler is the correct height and wheel flanges clears the under body. Drill bolster pin hole.
Like N scale, I'm not so concerned with the string of cars, just the ones that 'show', like the end or need to change for the loco. For the passengers, you can just do a coupler conversion on the baggage to loco coupling.
