I had to keep a set for myself too. Some folks will look at modeling and say, 'oh that isn't real or prototypical'. The best thing one can do is have a picture of the real thing, (kind of like Coke being the real thing) and when folks see the real thing in a picture.......their criticism goes strangely silent. I just love silencing the critics. I think this was a very good move on MTL's part and Rob said it best....Excellent job. I hope that MTL will endeavor to repeat this sort of release in Z scale. This is kind of like a booster shot. I encourage anyone who has purchased this set to give a shout out to MTL and let them know you are pleased. Every manufacturer likes and needs encouragement as it helps them to do it again.
they are great, getting better with each run. Originally, some good paints by Joe, then later 'massed produced' using masking that often was very poorly aligned. Their N stuff is really good! Just bought the latest N set of box cars, even though not even close to my west coast or era but just look right !
Had to get a set too. Add Rustalled metal wheels, a shot of Dullcote, and light chalking with Bragdons to finish them off, and it looks like hours were spent making them prototypical!
Mine came today, and oh joy, they ARE the best MTL cars to date! Both sides are different, and the grafitti is exquisite! If you are collector OR runner, this is THE set to get, or you will be sorry!

Yeah, if MTL will just bite the bullet and tool up ACe's or GEVO's and release all their cars with modern graffiti work modeled after real cars like this, we will have a game changer here!
